A Canadian mining company, Stellar AfricaGold, has completed the first phase of drilling at its gold exploration site in Morocco and is moving quickly to expand operations after early results indicated promising mineralisation.

The company said that Phase I diamond drilling at the Tichka Est Gold Project successfully intersected structurally controlled gold mineralisation within a shear-hosted quartz-vein system known as Zone B.
The findings confirmed the geological model guiding the exploration and suggested that the mineralised system may extend deeper underground.
Company executives say the results have prompted an accelerated exploration strategy. According to J‑François Lalonde, president and chief executive of Stellar AfricaGold, the early drilling campaign confirmed the presence of what he described as a “robust gold system”.
The company is now preparing a fully funded 5,000-metre Phase II drilling programme designed to move the project closer to a maiden mineral resource estimate, a key milestone in the development of the mining project.
Field operations are already expanding as Stellar AfricaGold recently mobilised a second excavator to the project area to accelerate trenching and prepare additional drill pads. At the same time, a regional exploration team is expected to begin surveying nearby gold and silver targets across the project’s 86 square kilometre permit area by mid-March.
The second phase of drilling will focus on extending the known mineralisation in Zone B while testing structural continuations to the north and south. Geologists will also assess whether the gold-bearing system continues at greater depths.
Further technical work planned for the second quarter of 2026 includes structural mapping, three-dimensional geological modelling based on new drill data, and hyperspectral remote sensing surveys.
High-resolution topographic mapping and additional sampling programmes are also scheduled as the company works toward establishing a formal resource estimate.
