Terrorism problem in Egypt
Egypt continues to face an ongoing terrorism threat, concentrated primarily in the Sinai Peninsula.

While attacks have decreased in recent years due to ongoing military operations, occasional incidents continue.
In 2025, security officers killed suspected extremists in a shootout near Giza, underscoring persistent threats, per APNews.
Authorities also impose stringent restrictions in Sinai, where terrorist organizations affiliated with the Islamic State have previously operated.
The United States Department of State issued a Level 2 travel advisory for Egypt, indicating that visitors should maintain a high degree of caution while in the country.
Furthermore, the department designated specific regions within the North African nation as Level 4 zones, signifying a recommendation against all travel to those areas.
